My Visit to the Red Deer Library

When I last posted, I was on my way to Red Deer, Alberta, to read from Blow.  I had a wonderful trip facilitated by the awesome youth librarian, Amy Trepanier. You can find out more about RDPL programs at The Mezz on Facebook.

Here is a pic of me reading to the teens in Red Deer:

Here we are after the reading:

Right after I read, the teens created wearable Book Art for the library’s annual READ poster. Here they are in their transformed (and amazing) versions!

costumesIt was a treat to meet these cool teen readers and their super supportive librarians.

An eerie coincidence that happened was a real live drug bust occurred in Red Deer a couple of days before I read from Blow. It’s always strange when fiction and reality collide, and it’s a little uncomfortable when that reality involves gangs. I’m looking forward to writing about a wilderness adventure next…no drug dealers in sight in this one!
